MIGRAIN: Narrative

 1) Give an example from film or television that uses Todorov's narrative structure of equilibrium, disequilibrium and new equilibrium.

2) Complete the activity on page 1 of the Fact sheet: find a clip on YouTube of the opening of a new TV drama series (season 1, episode 1). Embed the clip in your blog and write an analysis of the narrative markers that help establish setting, character and plot.

The scene is surrounded in a rural area and background  with increased suspense as the audience wonders while the huntee be caught. We see the main protagonist running away from hunters and it builds a lot of tension and suspense throughout the extracts. We see the main character who clearly is a runner based on his outfit and choose of clothing and we can establish is the disequilibrium as the scene carries on we see more running creating an enigma code as to how did this happen.

princess - snow white

The audience are interested in learning what will be done and how the issues will be handled.

In a crime drama, the significance of law and order is emphasised when the policeman apprehends the criminal.
In a romantic comedy, the principles of heterosexual relationships and monogamy are reaffirmed when the female wins the guy's heart.

The concept of the issue and its remedy is essential in advertisements. Advertisements frequently present a problem (bad breath) and provide an immediate answer.
